The music video for Ayu Ting Ting’s new single titled “Sik Asik” was purposely made like a so called korean style till it was mentioned that it had a resemblance with the group 2NE1. Is it true that Ayu was inspired by the Korean girlband?
In the video clip, the singer Ayu was falsely addressed as 2NE1’s Park Bom. With Ayu’s hair styles like Park Bom and the background settings as well as the lightings, it was obvious that the video clip was similar to 2NE1’s I’m The Best.
Alyandra, the video director, admitted that he was inspired to make a video clip like 2NE1’s while doing the music video of “Sik Asik”.
“I was inspired at K-Pop in this video, but it does fluctuate between elements of K-pop and Dangdut ( a certain genre of music in indonesia ). Time was taking to make this video and I also double checked with the management [ie YG Ent] and they agreed. Incidentally Ayu also do like K-pop music ,” explained Alyandra at a press conference in MNC TV Studio, Pondok Gede, Jakarta, Monday night
However, Alyandra refused to admit is was an exact replicate of 2NE1. Because according to him, being inspired doesn’t mean exactly the same, only that he took the same theme from 2NE1.
“The direction is over there, but I took to the global aspect, it’s not the same. So in this video there are three scenes in the house with a color like Korea, then there is dance as well, but it’s not that much of Korean here too. It is true that the inspiration comes from I’m The Best but it’s not the same, only the theme,” he asserted.
The singer is known to be quite familiar with IATB as she preciously performed a cover of the song with Cherrybell.
